Calvin was left with 3 children. Being that his oldest child was only 10 years old and there was no one to care for them while he worked, Calvin hired a babysitter, namely Sara Ellen Chapman (1882 - 1908). She & Calvin were married in January of 1906. They had 1 son, Myron Rowsey (Red). Again, Calvin became a widower. |
Having become a twice-widowed farmer with 4 lively children, on 9/2/1908 Calvin Albert married Ida Ellen Dailey (9/13/1883 - 1/8/1970). She had been born in Crown City, Ohio but was currently living at Cox's Landing, WVa which was located somewhere between Huntington and Ashton on WV Rt. 2 along the Ohio River. They had eight children: Oscar Carlton (1909 - 2000); Print Walter (1911 - 1985); Margaret Marie (19__ - ____);
William Worthy (1914 - 1990); Mae Kathryn (1917 - 1994); Woodrow Melvin (1919 - 2000); Pansy Pearl (1921 - 2000); Frederick David (19__ - ____).
A view of the 'old home place' where most of Calvin's kids were reared. The picture is taken from Buckle Cemetery which is near Pliny, WVa. Because the family resided just out from there on Plantation Road, Buckle Cemetery is where his first 2 wives are buried. After loosing that farm he moved his family to Putnam County and started renting farm land. So when Calvin passed away, they lived on Route 35 in Putnam County. Since that is away from Pliny, he was buried in the Winfield Cemetery. When Ida, his last wife, passed on, she was buried at the Barton Chapel Cemetery, which was down on Plantation Rd, in sight of the old home place as the other 2 wives. Afterwards, Ida's kids decided that Calvin should be next to her, so they all chipped in and had him moved next to Ida at the Barton Chapel Cemetery.
