This page will feature Virginia E. (Virgie or Sis) McCallister (November 3, 1897 - April 11, 1983).

The grandfather of Virginia was Andrew David (1823 - 1905) the seventh child of William and Jane. Andrew David McCallister married Elizabeth Duncan (1834 - 1913) and they had eight children, the 7th of which was Calvin Albert (1868 - 1934). On December 25, 1893 he married Emma Ellen Shank (1871 - 1905). They bore 6 children: Oda (1895), Ora (1896 - 1967), Virginia E. (1897-1983), Floyd (1898 - 1945), Andrew R. (1901 - 1905), and Kenneth N. (1905 - 1905). After Emma passed away, Calvin was left a widower.

Virginia (Aunt Sis) McCallister was born on November 3, 1897 in Shank Town, Apple Grove, Madison County, WVa and passed away April 11, 1983. By 1936, she had moved to Westerville, Ohio. A half-brother, William Worthy, left WestVa to start a new life in the 'big city' there with her. Little did either of them know that he would have a daughter, many years later, who would go to Otterbein College in Westerville!

In Ohio, she went to nursing school. There she also met & married Obart (Hobe) Carney (1899 - 1957). They had 5 children, namely Jackie, Era May, Donald, Faye, and Obart (Butch) Carney, Jr. Era & Fay are the only ones living today, as of 2/2001. Era currently resides in California. Faye married Richard Pulley of Cambrige, Ohio and presently resides in Cambrige.
After working most of her life as a nurse, Virginia passed away in Cambridge, Guernsey County, Ohio & is buried in Guernsey County Memorial Gardens.
