The grandfather of Ora was Andrew David (1823 - 1905) the seventh child of William and Jane. Andrew David McCallister married Elizabeth Duncan (1834 - 1913) and they had eight children, the 7th of which was Calvin Albert (1868 - 1934). On December 25, 1893 he married Emma Ellen Shank (1871 - 1905). They bore 6 children: Oda (1895), Ora (1896 - 1968), Virginia E. (1897 - 1983), Floyd (1898 - 1945), Andrew R. (1901 - 1905), and Kenneth N. (1905 - 1905). After Emma passing away, Calvin was left a widower. Ora was born in Shanktown, Apple Grove, Mason County, WVa. She finished the 8th grade, which at the time was considered equivalent to finishing high school nowadays. After passing a teacher's exam, she became a teacher. She taught in Mason County all her working years. Many of those teaching times were in one room school houses. After teaching for a while, she took advanced classes. They were done mainly via the mail, but there were some times when she would need to go to campus. Eventually, she earned a college degree from Marshall College (now University) in secondary education.That was quite an achievement for a woman in her day! Ora married Walter F. Johnson (February 24, 1896 - November 24, 1976) on July 18, 1918 at ????. His middle initial "F" could stand for the name Frank or Francis. They had 3 children, Vera May, Wanda & 'Jr'. Vera May was born & passed away in 1919 (November 14 - November 19). She is buried in the Barton Chapel Cemetery in Pliny, West Virginia. Ora & Walter held a special place in the lives of all her siblings. Their home was a special place to visit just as them visiting was a special treat. Walter was a WW I veteran.
