Hardesty's History of Mason County says this about William and Jane . . . Last Updated April 5, 2004 This site is for the family tree of Pansy Pearl (Pom or Pam) McCallister Wheless (August 10, 1921 - October 10, 2000). There are other related family sites on the web. (2 more over-all links are at the bottom of this site) The grandfather of Pansy Pearl was Andrew David (1823 - 1905) the seventh child of William and Jane. Andrew David McCallister married Elizabeth Duncan (1834 - 1913) and they had eight children, the 7th of which was Calvin Albert (1868 - 1934). In 1908 Calvin Albert, a twice widowed farmer having fathered 7 children but 3 of whom had passed away by 1905, married Ida Ellen Dailey (1883 - 1970) of Crown City, Ohio. They had eight children: Oscar Carlton (1909 - 2000); Print Walter (1911 - 1985); Margaret Marie (19__ - ____); William Worthy (1914 - 1990); Mae Kathryn (1917 - 1994); Woodrow Melvin (1919 - 2000); Pansy Pearl (1921 - 2000); Frederick David (19__ - ____). Pansy was born in Apple Grove of Mason County, WV. With her curly hair, Pansy was a little "frizzled top" blond headed girl as she grew up. Later as a teenager, she fought with her hair. While other girls curled their hair, Pansy tried to straighten hers. She graduated from Winfield High School in 1940 & attended the reunion in 1999. She worked at Gill & Burdett's store in Winfield during her last year of high school. Then she & her sister Mae went to Dunbar where they roomed together and worked at the Fletcher Enamel Factory. When production was cut, Pansy was laid off. She and her mother went to Florida to visit Mae & Clyde McQuain. Van Wheless and his parents lived next door. Pansy & Van dated 3 weeks, then became married. Pansy (Pam) and Van Wheless (14 Feb 1919 - 12 Sep 1988) moved to Georgia to live with his parents (a lifetime commitment Van had informed Pansy of before they were married). There they had a son, William Van Wheless (11/10/19__ - ____). She married Van Wheless on February 1, 1946. Pictured is their 50th wedding anniversary party in 1996. Van farmed with his father then went to work in a hardware store in Nashville. After he had a serious heart attack & could work no more, Pansy worked for the hardware store until she retired at age 62. She passed away on Oct 10, 2000 in Jacksonville, Florida where she was living with her son and daughter-in-law. She was buried in Nashville, Georgia. Pam was a long time member of the Nashville, Georgia Primitive Baptist Church. She lived most of her married life on the family farm in Nashville. Those who loved her miss her daily but there is much comfort in the knowledge that she is with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. William (Bill) married Karen Juan Register (4/11/19__ - ____) on 06/13/1965 at Ray City Baptist Church in Ray City, GA. They are from the same county in Georgia. After completing high school together, they were married right away. They had a son, Michael Brian Wheless (??/??/19__ - living). Presently they live in Orange Park, Florida which is a Jacksonville surburb & really like it. They still own his old home place in Georgia & rent the farm out. An employee of the man who rents the farm is living in the house and doing some fixing up on it for rent. Brian Wheless married Robin Lee Hodges (June 26, 19__ - ) in Orange Park, FL (?/?/19??) upon _what occassion?__. They have had one daughter, Sasha Ariana Wheless (8/19__). Pansy's only child, William (Billy) Wheless, her only grandson, Brian Wheless, and her only granddaughter, Sasha Wheless, all survived her. In this picture of Sasha, she is age 12.
