This page will feature Henry Alexander McCallister (1883-1966).

Each of his brother & sisters have a web page of their own such as this.

Henry's father was John Madison (1855 - 1937) who was the second child of Andrew David. Andrew David married Elizabeth Duncan (1834 - 1913). They had eight children, the 2nd of whom was John Madison.

JohnMadison's picture from the same setting as his wife's John Madisons wife, Martha Jane Wise John Madison McCallister married Martha (Mattie) Wise (1860 - 1939) in 18??. They had 4 children : Clarence Reed (1882-1953), Henry Alexander (1883 - 1966), Lucy Emma (1887-1947), & Elizabeth Alma (1889-1980).
As means to survive John was a farmer and boat builder, and he lived many places in both Putman and Mason countys.
Henry at age Henry never was married, so was father to none [smart man ;-)]. He worked in St. Albans, first as a conductor on the St. Albans trolley line and later was employed by Wymer Lumber Co. from which he retired. He lived with his mother, Lucy Emma McCallister Dodd until she died. They lived in St. Albans, WVa across the tracks from the C&O Train Station. After Lucy died, Henry bought a small 3 room house on Rt. 34 (Winfield Road). Henry and Harold Francis Dodd, a son of his sister Lucy Emma, were very close. Henry went to the Dodd's house every Thursday and every Sunday after church (First Baptist Church of St. Albans). On Thursdays Harold Dodd took him to the grocery store and then drove him home. Henry never had a car - he usually hitch-hiked. He was a very simple man who loved his family. He had about 2 or 3 acres of land with his small house. Every summer he had vegetable gardens (lettuce, half runners, corn, strawberrys, rutabagas, etc). A hillside on his property was covered in blackberry bushes.
Harold looked after Henry until he passed away. Henry is buried at Teays Hill Cemetery.
